Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 526560)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • join an internationally active team of researchers in the development studies of big data and simulation modelling in health service
  • assist in the application and validation methodology on electronic medical records-based cohort studies
  • conduct data manipulation and visualization
  • prepare scientific publications, grant proposals and reports
  • provide general administrative and operational support
  • perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • a Bachelor’s degree or above in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics or related disciplines, with a strong quantitative background
  • experience in analysing statistical data using R, SAS, Stata, Python or other programming packages
  • demonstrated expertise in analysis of large and complex datasets
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
  • experience in big data manipulation or decision analytics, and a track record of publications would be advantageous

What We Offer

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on 1-year temporary basis or 2-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.
