Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer in the Department of Ophthalmology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 526350) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis or one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or above, preferably in Biomedical Science, Health Science, Public Health, or a related discipline, with experience in animal experiments, confocal/fluorescent microscopy, molecular biology, or cell culture (e.g. mouse handling, electroretinography, tissue dissection/processing/sectioning immunohistochemical staining, RNA/DNA extraction/processing, qPCR, protein extraction, western blots, and cell culture techniques).  Previous work experience in ophthalmology/visual science-related translational research, particularly in relation to drug delivery and pharmaceutics, will have an advantage.  They should also have a strong sense of responsibility; good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; and the ability to multi-task and work independently and collaboratively as a team.  Those with more experience, especially in ophthalmic clinical research studies, may be considered for appointment as Senior Technical Officer.  

The appointee will be involved in research projects related to the development of novel pharmacological treatments for ocular diseases and investigations in neuroregeneration and neuroprotection, and assist with general administrative, operational, and other duties as assigned.  

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  The appointment on fixed-term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of the basic salary.
